Spritz Cookies

Another cookie we made almost every year since 1952 was the Spritz. I always used almond extract rather than vanilla. We usually made 1 1/2 -2 batches to have enough dough to make white, green, and red cookies.

Ingredients:

1 Cup Butter   Cream together
34 Cup Sugar
1 Each Egg   Add to butter mix; mix until light and fluffy.
1 tsp Almond Extract
2 12 Cup Flour   Sift together; Add to butter mix a bit at a time to work it in.
12 tsp Baking Powder
18 tsp Salt

Color dough if desired. Fill cookie press and press out cookies on bake sheet. Decorate with cherries, nuts, or sugars. Bake 9-10 min or until lightly brown on bottom.
