Russian Tea Balls

Another "fave" made every year is the Russian Tea Ball. Mom (Grace Grumney) clipped this out of the newspaper in the 1950's.

1 Cup Butter   Soft, not melted
12 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 14 Cup Flour
14 tsp Salt
23 Cup Walnuts   Finely chopped; can substitute Pecans

Mix together the butter, sugar, and vanilla. Sift flour and sale, mix in. Stir in nuts. Roll into 1" balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven until set but not brown. 10-12 minutes. While still warm, roll in confectioners sugar. Cool, and then roll in sugar again, if desired. Pack in container with wax paper between layers.
