This was one of the original cookies Mom baked that first year when it all started in 1951.
|1||Each||Egg Yolk||Beat egg yolk, mix in grated orange peel, grated lemon zest, and lemon juice.|
|1||Cup||Cake Flour||Stir in, and then chill until firm|
|1||Each||Egg White||Slightly beaten|
|1||Each||Maraschino Cherries||Or candied cherries; one half per cookie.|
Roll into 1/2" balls. Dip in egg white and roll in nuts. Place on greased cookie sheet. Press cherry half into the center of each cookie. Bake 325 degrees ~20 minutes.
(I doubled this recipe, as it does not make a lot.)
